If you are thinking of selling your home in the next few months, here are 3 things you can do right now to get it ready.
1. Start Decluttering
When buyers enter your home, you want them to be impressed by the house itself, not distracted by the items you have in it. Box up anything that you don't use regularly or any seasonal items and store in the garage or attic. Organize closets, so that they look neat and well-arranged. Donate or sell items you no longer need.
Organize your garage and attic space as well. This will ensure that an inspector can easily access equipment like water heaters, sprinkler system controllers, and electrical panels.
2. Add Curb Appeal
There is nothing like a first impression. The front of your home is the first thing a buyer will see. If you are stuck at home right now, use some of the time to clean up the yard. Pull weeds, fertilize grass, add fresh mulch, and plant flowers. Consider pressure washing your driveway, painting or staining the front door, and adding a new door mat. All of these small things can win over a buyer before they even enter the front door.
3. Fix it up!
If you are aware of items in your home that need repair, such as a leaky faucet or broken sprinkler heads, get these items fixed before you put your home on the market. It may also be a good idea to have your HVAC system serviced to make sure it is clean and running properly. Are there areas of your home that look worn out? Sometimes a fresh coat of paint or new carpet can make a huge difference in the way buyers view your home. Those are relatively inexpensive items that can help your home sell faster and for a higher price.
We are also offering free virtual staging consultations for new clients to help declutter and organize your home.
